Over the last few years, the corporate agenda has increased demand for secure and sustainable brand protection solutions. Authentication & Brand News™ reported a few such developments in the March 2024 issue and, moving forward, is sharing Crane Authentication’s latest announcement.
Crane has launched three new members of its PROFOUND™ secure label family: PROFOUND™ Eco, PROFOUND™ Air, and PROFOUND™ Connect to enable brand owners to detect and prevent counterfeits and empower their consumers to recognize a genuine product.
PROFOUND Eco contains 70% post-consumer recycled PET in its inner layer. It complies with industry standards for sustainable products and contributes to a circular economy by minimizing waste and maximizing resource efficiency. PROFOUND Eco was launched at the International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition (IACC) 2024 Annual Conference.
PROFOUND Air provides fluid 3D visual effects with half the thickness of its counterparts, allowing for applications where thinner labels are critical and lower material usage is required.
PROFOUND Connect is a secure label with a physical-digital link and serialization options. As the European Union moves towards implementing the Digital Product Passport (DPP), this solution emerges as a powerful tool for compliance. It ensures adherence compliant with DPP-related regulations and facilitates consumer engagement, cloud services, and traceability.
The PROFOUND secure label family is a variant of the MOTION® micro-optic technology employed to protect banknotes in over 50 nations. According to Crane, its labels – which weigh c. 650mg each – meet today’s demand for more environmentally friendly products.
Crane also offers PROFOUND™ Plus, which provides machine-readable authentication. ‘This new family of products solves specific issues for our clients. Our customers are already showing great interest in them, and we will reveal some new products in the future,’ said Yann Ischi, Vice President of Product Authentication at Crane. In other Crane news, further to its acquisition of OpSec Security, parent company Crane NXT has announced a restructuring of its business segments. Subsidiaries Crane Currency and Crane Authentication now form part of the new Security and Authentication Technologies Segment, along with the acquired OpSec business.
